Leaving Utah...

I know most of you probably wont sit through this whole movie because it is 7 minutes long, but it makes me cry when I watch it and is special to me. It is just crappy iPhone video I pieced together of our moving process (used 8mm and reel director aps).  But I love this movie because it reminds me how much I  loved our home, I loved having family close and I loved living in Utah.  Now that I am here in Texas I am really homesick. It's HOT & humid and I dont know anyone or anything around me. I walked in a Target the other day just to feel something familiar. I know I will learn to love San Antonio and make our home here....but in the mean time I miss my dream home, small town, and mountains.

Thanks so much for everyone's help! We couldn't have done it without you, especially since it was just me without Craig for most of it. Janna, Sharlie & Blake, Stac & Strat, Sam, Keri & Byron...and everyone praying for us from a distance. Thank you thank you!

ps. had a few people email me about the music on this video. The first song is by Meiko: "Let it go" and the last song is by Ingrid Michaelson: "Live it with Love"

Watching your video made me think of us leaving California! So sad! I'm sorry it's been a difficult move. I can only imagine how hard it would be to leave family when you've never lived without family nearby. It's going to get better! You'll make friends and then everything will turn around! Good luck! I love you!

I had a hard time too when we moved to AZ. The first year was super hard. I had no friends and was in a totally new unfamiliar place. Near the end of that year the Lord blessed with a super friend- she was my visiting teacher, also pregnant with her first kid, and we hit it off from the get go. He also blessed us again when we moved apartments- we ended up in a ward that was awesome! Lots of young couples/families and just the greatest people! I was finally feeling comfortable, making friends, and enjoying life in AZ- and then.....we moved back to Utah! Surprisingly, I actually had a hard time making the decision to stay or move back! Why do I say all this? IT WILL GET BETTER! The Lord will bless you and your family. Keep your chin up :0)

Oh Kelley, this made me homesick for Utah too! I know how talented you are and as soon as your new ward meets you, they will learn that too and love you so much for adding to their blessings! It is so hard moving away from family, the first few months were really hard for me and I cried a lot. But it does get easier. Is there a playgroup in your new ward? I cannot imagine moving away from home and not having the church. It has totally helped in the social aspect as well as every other aspect. But being a mom who stays home, it was so nice to get out and meet other moms too. I have made some really great friends here and although I still miss my family and Utah a lot, this is starting to feel like home. I have no doubt that you will do so well there and they will be so blessed to have you in their lives! Love to you and your sweet family!

So sweet! Great way to document the memories! We recently sold our house in Logan and it was such a heart break! I hope that life in Texas quickly eases the transition. I'll keep you posted but I think it's looking like we could be moving to Austin in September :)

Hi Kelley, I haven't visted your blog in a while. I understand leaving your home can be sad and difficult, I had to do the same thing two years ago (and still have to drive by it on a regular basis- they tore down the trees and flowers we planted with the kids in the front yard! :( ) But I am sure there are only bright, exciting, good things for you and your family in the future and I'm happy for you that you will be all together. On another note, I am getting ready to move again next week and have been stressing out about it SOOOOO much (there's somuch to do, I'm exhausted already) but your video just inspired me to change my attitude and make sure it is a pleasant experience for my family. The parts with your kids jumping up and down on their matresses and walking up the little ramp to your moving truck was so sweet and reminded me of my girls, and I know their attitude and experience will depend on mine... so I would rather them think of it as fun and exciting instead of difficult and stressful! Thank you!!!!
