Please tell me we all have days like these....

Ok, so I have to tell you all my wonderful day and hope,(please, please, Please) that this is normal. I know being a mommy is worth it and I love it. But today was just one of those days when you really wonder :) It all started this morning when I wouldn't let Mckay have 3 toasted pop tarts for breakfast, so he cried for 1/2 hour about it and I had to send him to time-out.

Then awhile after that, he was taking a bath and I ran to get the phone. I was only gone for a minute before he got out of the tub, took his bubble bath, and dumped the ENTIRE bottle on Ky's head. She was SCREAMING her head off cause it stung her eyes so bad. It was really hard to get off her. Her eyes were swollen shut. I was putting Visine in them trying to get the swelling to go down. So, into time out again with Mckay.

Then later on in the day, he has chicken nuggets for lunch and I give him BBQ sauce with them like always. I go to get Ky out of her crib and he gets in the fridge dumps the whole thing of BBQ sauce on his plate and then plays in it, goes in the bathroom to go potty, and gets it all over the toilet seat sink and walls. Time out again. On top of all this Ky is wanting to be held 24/7...she is really clingy right now. So, I have to put her down to clean up Mckay and she starts screaming so hard that she gives herself a bloody nose. After I clean that all up, Ky knocks over our plant that she NEVER touches. Black dirt ALL OVER, which, is really hard to get out of the carpet right after you have watered it!

Ok, to skip to the end of my great day...dinner. The kids and I are eating (craig is at work) I go to answer the door for our friend who just stopped by. Mckay puts the bar stool up to the sink gets the dish soap and brings it back to the table and dumps the ENTIRE bottle on his meatloaf, the meatloaf in the pan, and on the table! AAAHHHH. That one got a swat on the butt.

Did I mention that our house is a DISASTER and I haven't showered in 2 days! It is just hard cause Mckay knows better than all this. He sounds naughty but, he usually is a good boy. Just has lots of energy and very curious I guess. So, anyway to sum it all up. It was a crazy day. Please tell me someone else has been through days like these...I wonder if I am a horrible mom. I do love my kids SO MUCH. Some days are just better than others. :)

ps. sorry for the long read. Feels good to vent. hehe

Don't fret....I have so had these days. Thanks for your advice once again! My e-mail is Kristinbishop@hotmail.com. I need yours too...because I LOVE asking you questions. You give all the details I LOVE and WANT. Like where did you buy photoshop for example???? Did you really spend 700 bucks???? Anyhow, I was laughing so hard at this post. I could totally sympathize....I even read it to my husband and by the end he couldn't stop laughing. Boys will be boys I swear...I am going to have one just as "active" and "curious" as yours. Tomorrow will be better!

Kelley, no offense, but that is hilarious! Im so sorry cause I feel your pain...maybe not to that extent because Kate is three months old. My coping with bad days is handing over the screaming child to the husband when he gets home and running off my steam at the gym. Seems to help. Im sorry about the bad day, but maybe they will be angels for the next few days at least :)
And you are a wonderful mom, more patient than I am! ...kids will be kids.

Kelley - with four kids in tow I completely feel for you and have those days more often then not...so dont' be so hard on yourself. Just go in your room, get your thickest pillow and scream into it as loud as oyu can and then for good measure - do it again! It really helps to let it out, trust me. I give myself a few time outs a day to keep myself in check - so I don't hurt the little stinkers! Children are our greatest joys too and bring such laughter and happiness. So you have to have the bad to really enjoy and love the good.

I feel bad laughing at your pain, but it was a good reminder of how it is a FULL TIME job being a a mom. You are a good mom, don't tell yourself otherwise. Annabelle is a handful and I am sure that when I have another one my days will be much like yours the other day. When that happens I might be calling you to reassure me it is normal as well. But after reading your story - it might have been the birth control I needed :) Kidding.
P.S. I love your new blog design - you know how we feel about monkeys :)

Whoa kel! I can imagine every little bit in my mind. I am sorry, but I have to admit, I was laughing (almost out loud at the computer lab) when I read about the muddled meatloaf. When it all comes down to it, you have beautiful babies and they are gonna make you cry one day when they leave you guys in the dust. You are going to be oh so proud of them though and all of this will be worth it. I bet by then, you'd give anything to have a bottle of BBQ all over the bathroom. I guess that's why grandmas can handle it so much better. I love you guys and thanks for your story. It helps me put my life in perspective. Love ya!

He seems to like pouring things... What a day! I envy your patience Kel - I probably would have resorted to the butt swatting long before dinner time. Thanks for your post - it helped ME realize that we all have those days!!
